The Natchitoches Art Gallery will have the privilege of hosting Dr. Edward Kollar as Guest Artist during the month of May. Dr. Kollar who divides his time between Natchitoches and Taos, New Mexico practiced dentistry in Vermont until 1999. He received degrees from Ohio State University as well as taking art education classes at the University of Vermont. Many of his oil paintings represent his interest in the history of the American west and wildlife as well as the landscapes of the Taos and surrounding areas. He has also been inspired by those subjects to create sculptural works in bronze. Dr. Kollar’s work has been shown in galleries at Stowe, Vermont; Taos, Santa Fe, and Cimarron, New Mexico; Missoula and Whitefish, Montana; Cody, Wyoming; Salmon, Idaho, and most recently Telluride, Colorado; and New Orleans, Louisiana. The works that Dr. Kollar will be showing at the Natchitoches Art Guild Gallery will be centered around Natchitoches and Cane River landscapes, including area plantation and town homes. Both original works and prints as well as bronze works will be available for purchase during the show. Please plan to visit with Dr. Kollar during his reception scheduled for Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Natchitoches Art Guild Gallery. |
